Jerriane O'Hara Obituary

Jerriane Dee O’Hara, 72, of Ulm, passed away February 16, 2019 at Benefis after her third battle with cancer.  A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Black Eagle Community Center at 2pm with a private Graveside Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.

Jerriane was born on Sept 9, 1946 in Crosby, MN to Edward Burdette Olson and Vivian Laverne Malm Olson. She completed high school in Kulm, ND in 1964. On September 19, 1966 she married her lifelong sweetheart, Tom O’Hara.  They moved to Great Falls, but after a few years they moved to Ulm where they’ve resided for the last 50 years.

She worked as a teacher’s aide at Ulm Elementary School and Fairhaven Hutterite Colony. She was known as Mrs. O. to the entire Ulm Community. During her years at the Ulm School she wore many hats from bus driver, band-aid giver to copy machine queen. The highlight of her days was reading with small groups.

After retirement Jerri volunteered at the Ulm School for several years. The school was her passion, she loved to sit at the table and paint on rocks. The river was her happy place. She loved to feed the birds, Chickadees being her favorite. Jerri sent cards to her friends for every occasion. She would say “Do one kind thing a day for someone” and “Pass it forward.”

Jerri loved her dog, Chloe and cat, Katherine Hepburn, and loved maple bars and eating Cheetos with a toothpick. Day trips with her husband and grandchildren were her favorite, and she adored it when they called her “Grammy”.  She was looking forward to many trips in her VW convertible Bug “Penny”.

Survivors include husband, Tom O’Hara; daughter, Becki McMickle (Todd) Ulm; brother, Robert Olson (Kathy) Great Falls; grandchildren, Connor and Marissa, Ulm, and several nephews and nieces.

Those who have preceded Jerriane in death include son, Matthew; parents, Edward and Vivian.

The family would like to thank Dr. Grant Harrer, Dr. David Brost and all the staff at Sletten Institute as well as Benefis 6th Floor Oncology Dept. Memorial donations should be made to the Sletten Cancer Institute, 1117 29th St S., Great Falls, MT 59405 or Ulm Elementary School PO Box 189, Ulm, MT  59485
