Jerry was born on August 18, 1938 in Fairview, MT to Ruben and Esther Simonsen. Raised in the community of Girard, in eastern Montana, Jerry graduated high school from Sidney, MT. He also proudly served our country in the US Army Reserves. In 1958 he married his loving wife Doris Kerbel and they moved to Great Falls. Together the couple had three children, Ray (Kathy) Simonsen, Ron (Tana) Simonsen and Wanda (Mark) Forster, all of Great Falls.
Jerry became the manager of Farmers Union Oil in Belt before beginning his career in the pizza business. In 1962 he started delivering pizzas for Howard’s Pizza and worked his way up the ladder, eventually becoming the President.
In 1999 Jerry retired due to health concerns, but his passion continued for cribbage, pinochle, golf, puzzles and fishing. He also enjoyed spending the winter seasons with his wife in Mesa, AZ, watching spring training baseball and playing blackjack. Jerry was a committed family man and spent many hours cheering for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. He especially loved cheering for the Great Falls Chargers.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris; his three children; brother, Jim (Linda) Simonsen of Miles City; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Monte.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in his name go to the Great Falls Chargers (the American Legion Baseball Team), P.O. Box 2807, Great Falls, MT 59403.
