Kathleen "Kathy" Hartwig Obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” Lynn (Robinson) Hartwig, 66, of Great Falls, passed away at Bee Hive Homes on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from complications of dementia.  A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 20th at 1:00 PM in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home with Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life reception will follow.

Born on August 9, 1952 in Great Falls to Ronald C. and Norma C. (Durran) Robinson, at the time of her birth, Kathy’s father was serving in the U.S. Army in Korea and did not get to see his baby daughter until she was 8 months old.  She was raised on the family farm located in the Knees community, 30 miles east of Brady and 31 miles north of Great Falls.  Kathy attended Knees community one-room School from first through seventh grades.  She transferred to Brady Public Schools with a daily 60-mile bus ride for eighth through twelfth grades.  Since her father sometimes drove the school bus, she and her brother Duane “loved” getting to be the first kids on the bus in those early, early winter mornings.

Kathy graduated from Brady High School in 1970.  After graduation, she took Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training and began working in Conrad, MT.  In the fall of 1971, Kathy transferred to Cascade County Convalescent Hospital in Great Falls, which later became Missouri River Nursing Home.  She worked there for 39 years until her retirement in 2010 due to her dementia.  She married Terrence W. Hartwig on April 23, 1983.

Kathy’s interest included bowling, camping, hunting and especially being a caretaker to those in need of special care.  She moved permanently to Bee Hive Homes of Great Falls on April 22, 2015 and resided there until her death.

Those who preceded her in death include her parents; brother, James L. Robinson; grandparents, Lester and Ester Robinson and Earle and Elsie Durran; father-in-law, Jack W. Hartwig; aunts and uncles, Lois and Joe Feist, Marilyn and Chuck Jones, Robert (Bob) Durran, Jack Robinson, Floyd (Buster) Robinson, Richard (Dick) Robinson, and Howard Wheatley.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Terrence Hartwig of Great Falls; brother, Duane Robinson of Conrad; aunts, Rosemary Robinson, Carol Wheatley, Shirley Durran, of Great Falls and Dorothy Robinson of Dillon; numerous cousins from both sides of the family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kathleen Blair plus the entire staff and administration of Bee Hive Homes (Linden House) for the outstanding care and professional, personal attention they have given to Kathy for the past 3 ½ years.

In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest that a donation be sent to Finding a Cure for Alzheimer’s Agencies or an organization of your choice in Kathy’s memory.
