Margaret Preble passed away at the Grandview on November 8, 2021, surrounded by her family at the age of 83. She was born to Alfred Burton and Elta Barrett Simpson on October 7, 1938, in Great Falls, MT. She was raised in Castner Falls and attended grade school and graduated high school from Cascade with her older sister, Madelyn. She continued her education at the University of Montana and moved back to Great Falls where she would meet her husband of 63 years, Fred Preble. They got married on July 11, 1958, at the Fort Benton courthouse. They continued to live in Great Falls, until moving to the farm to raise their 3 children.
Margaret spent most of her life raising her children and helping on the farm. She was a member of the Castner Falls Homemakers Demonstration Club. Outside of working the farm, she enjoyed gardening, bowling, and her flowers. She also got to travel to a National Bowling Tournament in Reno, Nevada.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Elta daughter-in-law, Lori Preble, and a nephew, Steven Faller. Her survivors include her husband, Fred Preble, son, Greg Preble, daughter, Karen (Lee) Kurtz, son, Jeff Preble, sister, Madelyn (Frank) Faller, granddaughters, Megan and Nicole Kurtz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Croxford’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 5:00-7:00 pm. She will be having a graveside service at the Cascade Hillside Cemetery on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
