Marjorie Myers Lemons passed away on February 1, 2021 at home after an extensive battle with ovarian cancer. She put up a great fight with a brave face every day she was with us. Her positive attitude helped her overcome.
Marjorie was born to Clinton and Lois Myers on April 5, 1957 in Middleton, ID. She joined two older brothers, Jeff and Clint. After the tragic death of her older brothers by drowning in 1960, the family moved to Montana. The family resided in several Montana locations before settling in Chestnut Valley outside of Cascade, MT. Marjorie graduated from Cascade High School in 1976 where she participated in track and choir.
After graduating high school, Marjorie met Delbert Lemons, Jr. at the Cascade rodeo. They were married at her parent’s home on July 5, 1976. Delbert operated his family ranch north of Craig and this is where they resided. Marjorie stayed home and raised their three children, Della, Emily, and Clint. Marjorie created a loving and nurturing home for her children, teaching them, reading to them, and allowing them to experience playing outdoors and in the dirt. Marjorie was a fast runner so her children would check to see which shoes she had on before they pushed their luck too far. Marjorie remained close to her parents and most weekends took her children to visit them. After Delbert and Marjorie divorced, Marjorie remained in Delbert’s life and helped to care for him after his stroke by helping him manage his medications and visiting regularly.
From a young age, Marjorie had a great love of animals. She was horse obsessed and had horses at her parent’s place, regularly riding them with her sisters Janine and Carol. Marjorie taught her children and grandchildren how to ride horses and nurtured her granddaughter Veronica’s love of horses. The family always had cats and dogs around. Marjorie’s love of animals allowed her children to experience the joy of animals. They brought home many strays to their mother, usually without their father’s knowledge,
because she would not have the heart to turn them out. Her dog, Shadow, was her faithful walking companion. The last few years of her life, Marjorie and her son Clint had horses, cows, and raised a couple of pigs her daughter took to her when they needed re-homed. They traded the cows in for sheep and started a small herd which she enjoyed. Marjorie loved watching the lambs and would call up family members with stories about the sheep.
Marjorie’s other great passion was music and she had big dreams of becoming a Nashville star. However, her audience turned into her children and occasional impromptu performances at the Craig Bar with a local guitar player. Early on, she was obsessed like so many others with Elvis Presley, whom her mother did not approve of her listening to. She always had a record player or the radio turned on in the family home and her children grew up listening to her sing along with her favorite songs. She loved to listen to country music greats like George Strait, Tanya Tucker, and Reba McEntire. One of her favorite experiences was attending a Lorrie Morgan concert with her daughter in Great Falls where she got an autograph.
Marjorie traveled throughout the western United States with her family growing up visiting family and landmarks such as the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. The extended family kept close through regular family reunions. Road trips continued with her children and mother as the family grew up. Marjorie and
her mother Lois would load the kids up and take them around to different historical sights around Montana and to family reunions. Marjorie would also load the kids up and take drives listening to the radio and singing. Marjorie and Delbert would load the kids up and head to the mountains to picnic, fish, and play. Marjorie loved the outdoors and would regularly go hunting with her son Clint, hiking all over outside of Augusta.
Marjorie will always be remembered as a kindhearted person with rarely a bad word to say about anyone. She was well liked and remembered by many as a smiling, laughing, happy person. Mom we love you and will miss you!
Marjorie is survived by her son, Clinton Lemons, and daughters, Della (Ben) Van Setten and Emily Lemons; sister Carolyn (Kenny) Rolfe; and grandchildren Vanessa and Evan Riphenburg, and Logan Yeager.
Marjorie was preceded in death by spouse Delbert Lemons Jr.; her parents Clinton and Lois Myers; brothers Jeffery, Clinton, and Ronald Myers Sr.; sisters Leita Myers and Janine (Joe) Filicetti; and granddaughter Veronica Riphenburg.
Cremation has taken place. Interment of the ashes and memorial will take place at a yet to be determined date in the spring. Interment will be in the Choteau Cemetery, Teton County, MT. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to your local animal shelter.
