Melanie Snider, 75, passed away in Chandler, AZ on October 7th, 2021. As per her request, no services have been planned. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
Born on January 18, 1946 to Freddrick and Frances (Dietz) Hlousek in Waukegan, IL; she was the second of their 5 children. Melanie was raised in North Chicago and graduated from Holy Child High School in 1963.
Melanie was a very giving and hard-working person, she cared deeply for people and that care could be seen in her work. She was proudly the first female Executive Director of the Spruce Pine Housing Authority; this achievement was a major steppingstone for other women to come into her position. She went on to perform private consultation to HUD for over 20 years. Her loving and caring nature didn’t stop at work, Melanie also spent her free time volunteering in many homeless shelters.
Melanie was preceded in death by her sister Sandy Rood.
She is survived by her loving daughter Karen Anne Piner; grandchildren Margaret Fronapel and Maxwell LaPell; great grandchildren Aden McGillis, Ava Sauke, Jaxson LaPell and Maddox LaPell; sister Mary Beth Smith; brothers Robert Hlousek and Freddrick Hlousek Jr., as well as her nieces Nikki and Kristina Smith, Tina Hei and her nephew, Ryan Smith. She had a special bond with her grandnieces, Jaedyn, Eliana and Amarrah.
