Monte Richard “Bud” Berg 

Monte Richard “Bud” Berg , 83, of Great Falls, passed away May 17, 2019 at Park Place of natural causes. A Celebration of Life will take place at four o’clock on June 22, 2019 at the Highwood Clubhouse 3800 8th Ave N, Great Falls, MT with burial in Dearborn to follow at a future date.

Monte was born on Jan 5, 1936 in Great Falls to Carl Monte Berg and Dorothy Wilson. After attending Great Falls High School Monte joined the Naval Reserve where he served aboard the USS Ammen.

Monte met the love of his life Julie Berg. They were married on 11/29/1955 and spend the subsequent 63 years together. Together they lived as snowbirds in Arizona, then in the summer back home to Dearborn or Great Falls.

Monte worked as a Heavy equipment operator and bar tender. Over his working years he would contribute with the Cascade Road Dept driving heavy equipment, spending the winter plowing roads to clear passage for farmers that had been snowed in. Later Monte would work as a bar tender at the Barrel bar, Craig Bar, Dearborn Bar, Mountain Palace, and finally as a home builder. He also volunteered with the Dearborn Fire Dept. and used his construction skills to help establish the fire dept. building itself.

Monte was a jack of all trades who loved wood working, making furniture, building homes and even made his own tools. He especially enjoyed making bird houses for himself, friends and family.

Survivors include his wife Julie Berg, daughters; Debbie Berg Day; sons, Darin Berg, Monte Berg Jr. sister; Sue Barret, and various relatives including Jason Day, Tiffany Day, Blake Day, Katherine Berg, Shaina Berg, Jamie Berg,Ryan Scott and six great-grandkids.

Those who have preceded Monte in death include daughter, Vicky Berg; parents, Carl Berg, Dorothy (Wilson) Berg; grandparents, William and Loma Wilson – Iver and Maddie Berg; daughter-in-law Kelly Berg
