Norma Robinson

August 6, 1931 ~ January 14, 2015 (age 83) 83 Years Old
Norma Carol (Durran) Robinson, 83, of Brady, passed away at a local care facility on January 14, 2015 from natural causes. A visitation open to the public will be on Tuesday, January 20 from 6 to 8 PM in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place the following day, Wednesday, January 21 at 2 PM in the same location with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Norma was born in Great Falls, MT on August 6, 1931 to parents Seymour E. Durran and Elsie F. Wilson. She was raised and attended school in Great Falls, graduating the class of 1950 from Great Falls High. In that same year she later married Ronald (Ron) Robinson on October 15th. From this union they were blessed with a daughter and two sons. Shortly after getting married, they moved to the Paul Onstad Farm on the Dent Bridge Road, north of Great Falls where Ron was employed as a farmhand. Ron was drafted in 1951 and Norma returned to live in Great Falls while Ron was serving in Korea. While in Great Falls, their daughter Kathy was born and was 9 months old before Ron was able to return to the states to see her. Following Ron's honorable discharge, the couple returned to farming though this time settling in the Knees Community, east of Brady, MT. Norma loved being a farmwife. Neighbors would often drive by and see Norma out on the yard tractor mowing the yard or doing some other "labor intensified" job in her yard even after she turned 80. During harvest season when they were still farming, she loved cooking, packing up the kids and taking the meal to the field for the workers lunch break. Aside from the life as a farm wife, Norma had a passion for bowling, playing in several leagues over the course of her life. She also enjoyed reading, traveling, collecting bells, and knitting afghan's for everyone in the family and for friends as well. Norma also had a love for music. She was an active member of Great Falls Community Concert, Great Falls Broadway Shows, and attended many other types of entertainment offered in Great Falls, Fort Benton, Fort Peck, Big Fork, and anywhere else in the state. After 38 wonderful years as a devoted wife and mother, the love of her life passed away in 1988. Norma continued to live on the farm in Knees Community until an illness forced her to move back to Great Falls in October of 2014 where she remained with family. Norma is preceded in death by her husband Ron; parents, Seymour and Elsie Durran; son, James Lyle Robinson; sisters, Lois Feist, Marilyn Jones; brother, Bob Durran; brothers-in-law, Floyd (Buster) Robinson, Richard (Dick) Robinson, Joseph L. Feist, and Charles Z. Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Kathy) Hartwig of Great Falls; son, Duane Robinson of Conrad; sister, Shirley Durran of Great Falls; sisters-in-law and close friends, Rosemary Robinson of Great Falls, Carol Wheatley of Great Falls, Dorothy Robinson of Dillon; long time (60 years) close friends, LaNelle Peterson of Great Falls, Charlotte Seidler of Conrad; Grandkitty, Missey, who loved Norma despite the fact that Norma did not have a "real" fondness for household animals; numerous nieces and nephews from both the Durran and Robinson families. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Guter, and the staff of the Oncology area at the Great Falls Clinic. Additional thanks go to nurses Donna, Amanda, Jennifer, and the rest of the nursing staff at Peace Hospice for the love and support they provided not only for Norma but also for the rest of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Peace Hospice of Great Falls.
