Patricia Kaye Goss (Hindberg) passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024 at the age of 69, with her husband and children by her side after a seven month struggle with renal failure. Patricia was born on July 20, 1954 to Verne and Olive Hindberg of Augusta. She grew up in Augusta where she graduated high school in 1972 and then married Buddy Goss on October 6, 1973. Buddy and Patty had a daughter, Tassie, in 1976 and a son, Decker, in 1984 and were married for over 50 years.
Not only was Patty a good cook, but she could whip up a hearty meal anywhere with anything. Patty worked as a cook on oil rigs that took her and Buddy (who worked on the derrick) to Idaho, Nevada and of course Montana. She was also a camp cook for several hunting camps back in the mountains along with cooking at the Diamond Bar X, Lazy B and Wagon’s West in Augusta. Patty was involved with the Senior Center in Augusta and delivered Meals on Wheels for years as well as cared for some of the local seniors who weren’t able to leave their homes. Patty drove the Bowman’s Corner school bus route for many years. She sold Home Interior products for a few years and was also the local Avon lady (a title she inherited from her mother). Around 1998, Buddy’s job with UPS took them to Three Forks, where she got a job as deli manager at the Wheat Montana Deli. Then, in 2002, the couple moved to Butte, where Patty worked at Walmart until she retired several years ago.
Patty’s volunteer work was quite diverse. She was on the Augusta Ambulance crew and her and Bonita White were the first lady firefighters to join the Augusta Fire Department. Patty spent many years leading the local Girl Scout Troop with Joan Stevens where, every Easter, her dining room was overrun by Girl Scouts coloring eggs for the local Easter Egg Hunt. Patty was also a long standing member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Augusta.
Patty was a smart lady and loved to take classes and learn new things. She spent over a year driving back and forth to the College of Great Falls where she started working on a physical therapy assistant degree. Patty took other classes over the years learning to prepare taxes and she also became a notary.
Patty loved spending time with her family. She always had some crafty project to do with her grandchildren. Her true passion was going antiquing and finding treasures that soon filled up the She Shed that Buddy built for her. Her other passion was quilting and collecting fabric.
Patty is preceded in death by her parents, Verne and Olive Hindberg. She is survived by her husband Buddy and her children Tassie (Kurt) Christiaens of Conrad, and Decker (Dan) of San Antonio along with her grandchildren Koltin Christiaens (fiancé Tara Reinert) of Baker, Kylie Christiaens and Kade Christiaens both of Conrad and also her siblings: Karen Bright of Helena, Deanne (late Bob) Flaws of Townsend and Kim (Bernie) Hindberg of Corum. Patty also had several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews on both the Hindberg and Goss sides of the family.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 28 th at the Augusta Community Church at 3:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Augusta Catholic Church.
