Richard "Dick" Farrell Obituary

Watch Service Live Here

Richard (Dick) Farrell, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 7, at home surrounded by family. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 3:00 PM in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home with a Reception to follow.

Dick was born November 15, 1946, to Harold and Constance Farrell in Medford, MA. After graduating from Cambridge School of Weston, Dick attended the University of Montana in Missoula, where he earned his degree in Physical Education. While in college, Dick met his wife of almost 52 years, Lindy. They married in 1969 and had three children: Jacinda, Heather, and Todd.

After graduating in 1969, Dick taught Science and coached for the Melstone Public School system. Dick taught in Melstone for several years while serving in the Army Reserve. After being honorably discharged from the military, Dick went on to manage country clubs in two states. He joined the Air National Guard in 1975 and served for thirty years. One of Dick's proudest accomplishments was achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. After leaving country club management, Dick served as the General Manager for the U-Haul Center in Great Falls for more than 25 years until his retirement. Dick enjoyed any opportunity to help his community, from serving as a Scout Master to donating blood to the Red Cross.

After retiring, Dick enjoyed traveling in his motor home with his beloved wife, Lindy. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He was the ultimate short-order cook for his family's yearly trips to Glacier National Park. He loved tinkering with things to make them better or more useful. Dick had an active mind and was forever looking for solutions to life's puzzles. Dick was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and son and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered by everyone as "simply a good man."

Dick was preceded in death by his mother Constance and his father, Harold. He is survived by his wife, Lindy, and his sister Judith Robertson of Herndon, VA. He is also survived by his children: Jacinda Farrell, Heather (Dan) Levandowski, Todd (Amy) Farrell, and seven grandchildren; Kevin, Zach, and Kayleigh Hendricks; Max and Davin Farrell; and Abigail and Caitlin Levandowski, as well as two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to the Montana Air National Guard Family Support Fund. Croxford Funeral Home is caring for Dick's family.
