Robert “Bob” Heihn, 89, of Great Falls, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, due to complications from COVID.  He was buried Friday, January 21st with full military honors at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Fort Harrison, Helena, MT.  A Celebration of Life Potluck Picnic will be held on Saturday, July 9th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Black Eagle Park, 118 20th St., Black Eagle.  you are invited to come and share your memories of him with family and friends.

Born in Mandan, North Dakota on August 21, 1932, to Albin and Clarinda (Brude) Heihn, Bob grew up in North Dakota and Montana, graduating from Great Falls High School.  He joined the U. S. Navy May 1, 1950, serving on the USS Ajax as a pipe fitter.  He received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal and was honorably discharged August 15, 1953.  He married Montana “Tana” Whittaker in 1956, remaining together for 27 years until her death in 1983.  He married Darla Williams in 1984, enjoying 37 ½ years together until his passing.  He worked at the Anaconda Smelter and OK Corrals.

Bob loved the outdoors and was a true “jack of all trades”, from working with horses, to construction, to hunting, he did and knew it all.  He loved the day-to-day workings of the OK Corrals.  He enjoyed going to rodeos and Sun Canyon.  He delighted in watching his grandchildren play and work with horses.   Bob was a dreamer who saw the best in the future.  He often said, “It’s all going uphill or I’m going uphill.” Even till the end.  “How about that!”

Survivors include his loving wife, Darla; son, Steve (Rose Marie) Andrus; daughters, Kathy (Tom) Paliga, Barbara Blom, Cynthia (Matt) Ballinger; Jeaninne (Robert) Cavazos; Jennifer (Tony) Battaglia, Jerilynn Hart; sister, Shirley (Miles) McKenna; brothers, Larry (Joan) Harwood, Robert Heihn; aunt, Arletta (Tony) McAllister; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; dear friends and in-laws.
