Rodney Bergan Obituary

Rodney Thomas Bergan aka Rod, 58, passed away after a lengthy illness with Wegener’s Disease and ultimately from the toll it put on his ‘ol ticker.’ Late to the party, he was born as the baby brother in Helena on June 27th, 1962, to Mick and Arlene. He joined sister Patsy and brother Mike. Although born on Rodney Street, he would always let you know it had nothing to do with the name—though we may never know. Rod attended school from kindergarten thru high school in White Sulphur Springs. In his younger years he received perfect attendance and never tardy, however, his later report card showed he had a change of heart. He wanted to be a policeman until the fifth grade, but he went back and vigorously scratched out that his new aspirations were to be a cowboy. Rod married Trish Cameron in 1984 and together they had Patrick. They later divorced. He married the love of his life Holly Manger in January 1993. The couple eloped to Coeur d’ Alene and welcomed baby girl Taylor several months later. In 1997 twin boys Tristen and Trevor were welcomed. Rod worked for Golberg Construction for 18 years before starting his own construction business, B&B Construction, with his son Pat. Dad always referred to his education from the “School of Hard Knocks,” and he would get an award for “most likely to end up in Facebook jail.” Dad enjoyed just about anything to do with the outdoors. He had a passion for hunting especially. Most recently, after his leg injury led to amputation, he spent most of his days riding shotgun through the mountains with mom. Sometimes mom would hit the rumble strip just to get a rise of dad which gave her pick-up the name “rumble strip ruby.” Dad especially admired his three grandchildren Awstyn, Awbrey, and Travis. Awstyn being the first grandbaby made dad become a big ol softy. Dad and Awbrey were too much alike, they shared a love-hate relationship and dad would ask Awbs “why do you hate me Awbrey!?” Travis Rodney was the apple of dad’s eye. He had a very special bond with him.

Rod is survived by his awesome wife, Holly. Sons, Patrick (Nichole, their 3 children); Tristen (Kelsey Brozovich); Trevor (Teslin Johnson); and one and only daughter Taylor (Tyler Charlton). His sister Patsy (Dick) Witt; brother Mike (Jackie) Bergan; mother-in-law Nancy Manger; brother-in-law Ian (Carla) Manger; brother-in-law Jason (Willa) Manger. Nieces and nephews: Chris and Kevin Mader; Zach and Seth Bergan; Kelsy, Kendra, and Wiley Manger, Rielly and Abi Manger. A close cousin Eddie Bodell, and numerous other cousins.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents Mick and Arlene, grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 26th at 4:00 PM at the Mayn Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.
