Rodney A. Cartwright

Rodney Alan Cartwright, 61, of Geraldine, passed away October 23, 2018 at Benefis in Great Falls, MT.  A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 24th at 1:00 PM at the Geraldine School.

Son of Bob and Henrietta (Ludtke) Cartwright, Rod was born November 20, 1956 in Fort Benton, MT.  Being born with Down Syndrome, Rod attended the Boulder River School and Hospital from 1962-1972.  At the age of 16 he moved to Great Falls to continue his basic life skills training at Easter Seals and had janitorial training at the DeMolay.  During this time, he lived with the Wayne Cartwright family. 

Rod was employed at the Geraldine School as Janitor from 1978-1997.  Having a love of sports, he took on the role of team manager, traveling with the boy’s football and basketball teams.  Upon retirement from the school, Rod moved to Great Falls and lived with the Ken and Barb Cartwright family.  During his time with them, he became an avid fan of the Centerville Miners but remained a loyal supporter of the Geraldine Tiger/Rivals.  Rod returned to Geraldine in 2012.

Survivors include his sister, Marlene (Richard) Protsman; brother, Ben Cartwright of Geraldine; nieces, Toni (Jason) Hufford and Kari (Steve) Thurston of Great Falls and nephews Joe and Bryan (Erin) Cartwright of Fort Benton.  Rod was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made in Rod’s name to the Geraldine Senior Citizens or a charitable organization of donor choice.
