Ruby May Larson, 83, long time resident of Fairfield, passed away September 29, 2015 in Missoula, Montana. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the United Church of Christ in Fairfield, with Pastor Phil Maxwell officiating. A graveside service will follow immediately at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Fairfield.

Ruby was born February 25, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Mitchell Rentmeister and Roxie Arnetta Robbins. She was raised in Fairfield, Montana; she attended school at Fairfield.

On October 13, 1948 Ruby and Danny Larson were united in marriage. They created a family together, a daughter Shelly, and sons Ken and Barry. Ruby and Danny enjoyed 42 years together before his passing in 1990.

Ruby relished her role as a farmer’s wife, working alongside her husband and caring for their children. She worked for a time as a telephone operator and also a bartender. She embarked upon business pursuits of her own, co-owning Larson’s Home Town Bakery and a cleaning service.

She was a regular at the Fairfield Drop-In Center and a member of the Eagles. In her free time, Ruby enjoyed making quilts, playing pool and a good hand of cards. All who knew and loved Ruby will miss her greatly.

Ruby is survived by her loving family, her children; daughter, Shelly (Michael) O’Sullivan; sons, Ken (Sherry) Larson, and Barry (Deb) Larson; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Her brother Joseph (Ray) Rentmeister.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Danny; her parents; sisters, Loa and Donna; and her brothers Wallace and Dean.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorials in Ruby’s name be sent to the Fairfield Drop-In Center, 410 Central Ave. Fairfield, MT 59436.
