Sheryl passed away peacefully on January 16, 2022. Services will be held at Croxford Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday January 21st at 11am. Reception to follow.  Sheryl will be placed to rest in Sun River after the reception.

Sheryl Joy entered this world the 10th of 12 children to Fletcher and Francis Clampitt on January 26th, 1945. She quickly took on the role of Mom’s little angel who could do no wrong.  This served her well since the rest of us knew she was full of the dickens.  She spent her early years on the farm south of Richland, Montana where she enjoyed pulling several pranks with her siblings, most notably throwing eggs over the haystack to see if they would survive.  Our punishment was no eggs for a week.  We didn’t care as we were sick of eggs. Her mischievous spirit was once again at play when her and her sister Phyllis would make the neighbor lady, old Mrs. Ward, laugh so hard that when she got up from her chair, a wet spot would be left behind in the green velvet chair.  Many laughs were shared over the years as she and her sister Phyllis recalled how they along with a couple of farm boys threw chickens through the window of the one room school house for the janitor to find.  He never suspected those “sweet little Clampitt” girls, instead blaming the rowdy neighbor boys.

Famous for her Clampitt laugh, Sheryl had a jovial and fun loving spirit, always ready for a drink (especially with her favorite niece Stacyïïï).  On April 3, 1966 she married Leonard Glasoe. With this marriage, two children were born, Lance and Valerie who were her pride and joy. Sheryl and Leonard eventually divorced, although Sheryl remained close with his side of the family until the end.   During this time, she worked for GFPS as a food service worker.  Sheryl then worked in food service at Benefis, a job which she loved and where she met not only wonderful friends, but the love of her life as well.  She and Bob Murdoch were married on July 21st, 1990. With this marriage, she gained 4 daughters- Maureen, Sue, Roberta, and Jami.

Sheryl’s family meant the world to her.  She was blessed with grandchildren, Deidra McCombs, Kayla Rowton, Nick Rowton, Colter Glasoe, Zach Langel, Lars Kalsta, Rhiannan Kalsta, Echo Nelson, and one great-grandchild,Declan McCombs.

Sheryl always wanted to look her best, having her hair “done” and her earrings in place-the longer, more sparkly, and more dangly, the better.  This was her trademark.

Sheryl is preceded in death by siblings Jess Clampitt, Anne Raw, Jay Clampitt, Betty Neiss, Frank Clampitt, Ray Clampitt, Hank Clampitt, and Robert Clampitt as well as her parents, Fletcher and Francis Clampitt.

She is survived by her siblings, Geri Dykeman, Phyllis Birkoski, and Roberta Danielson as well as her husband Bob Murdoch, children and grandchildren.

This ones for you Sheryl!  Cheers!
