Vernon Peck

Vernon F. Peck, loving and gentle husband and father, passed away aged 76, on February 26, 2015, at the Cambridge Court Assisted Living Center, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Vernon will be cremated and at his request there will not be a memorial service. Vernon was born March 5, 1938, in Polson, Montana to Leroy and Julia Peck. He graduated from Great Falls High school in 1956, and joined the US Navy where he served aboard the U.S.S. Cogswell. He then worked for the Anaconda Company Smelter and Envirotech (EOS) for a combined 36 years as a boilerman and engineer. Vernon was an avid fishing enthusiast and he enjoyed many hours fishing throughout Montana. He especially enjoyed fly fishing on the Sun and Missouri rivers and he relished his time spending summers at his western Montana Abbot Lake home and fishing for bass in the Echo lake area. He liked to tie his own flies, including his own "Scottybugger" using the soft fur of his beloved dog, Scotty. Vernon was also an incredibly skilled artist and enjoyed painting fish, wildlife and landscapes scenes. Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Julia Peck. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Velma (Hofland) Peck, his three siblings and their families, Marvin Peck, Delbert (Lorrie) Peck, and Julie (Monte) Berg. Vernon is also survived by his children: Gregory (Cammi) Peck of Kalispell, MT; Tammie (John) Siller of Great Falls, MT; Robert (Shannon) Back of Belt, MT; Roy (Julie) Back of Great Falls, MT; JoLinda (Tom) Olson of Auburn, WA, Kimberly Deily of Bozeman, MT; Sydney (Bob) Blair of Great Falls, MT; Verna (Dan) Vuckovich of Great Falls, MT. He is also survived by over 25 grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers or condolences please consider a donation to the Parkinson Disease Foundation.
