Walter Richardson Obituary

Walter Roaul “Rich” Richardson passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 in Great Falls, Montana at 89 years old.

Rich was born on May 16, 1934 in Indianola, Mississippi to Morrell Richardson and Irene Beard. He was raised here alongside his brother Arthur. Upon his high school graduation in 1954, Rich made the courageous decision to serve his country in the United States Air Force as an electrician. Not long after his enlistment, he met the lady he knew he was meant to spend the rest of his life with, Antoinette Marie Freitas. Their love was solidified in Orlando, Florida on June 1956 where they shared their vows. Rich continued his journey with the Air Force with Antoinette close behind. Together they traveled to Florida, Germany, California, North Dakota, and finally, Montana, where they would spend the remainder of their years. Rich retired from the Air Force on June 30, 1980 after 26 years and spent a few years doing Civilian HVAC trades work before his final retirement.

Rich was a man of many talents, often described as a jack of all trades. Alongside his electrical talents, he was an avid locksmith and woodworker. Rich was also the guy you would go to if you needed your ice skates repaired or sharpened. If it could be fixed, Rich was there to do it. He was a wonderful brother, husband, father, and grandfather and will be remembered for generations to come.

He is survived by his sons, Robert (Deb) Richardson and David Richardson; his daughter, Lisa (Richardson) Ripley; his sister in law, Beverly Richardson; his grandchildren, Amber (Richardson)
(Nicholas) Scribner, Alida Richardson, Robin (Richardson) (Michael) Jackson, Heather Richardson, Sarah Richardson, Sierra (Richardson) Carughi, Jayde (Richardson) (Austin) Iannucci, and Abby Ripley; and his great grandchildren, Porter, Sawyer, Chandler, Chase, Dean, Beau, Abigail, and Aubrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morrell Richardson and Irene (Beard) Richardson; his loving wife, Antoinette Marie (Freitas) Richardson and his brother, Arthur Richardson.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 10:30AM at the Fort Harrison Cemetery in Helena, MT with a Memorial Service Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 1PM in Croxford Funeral Home’s Rose Room Chapel.
