William “Billy” Madison, 94, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Peace Hospice in Great Falls. Services will be held on Monday, September 21st at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 1601 2nd Ave. North, Great Falls, located in the Columbus Center.
Billy was born in Great Falls to Marie and William Madison. He graduated from Great Falls High School and Northwestern University. He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Billy became the owner and operator of Johnson-Madison Lumber co. in 1949, before retiring in 1986.
Billy married Elizabeth “Betty” Kennedy in 1949. Their children are Joyce (Mike) Harding of Great Falls, Jean (Bill) Holzheimer of Anchorage, AK, Bill (Kim) Madison of Great Falls, and Larry (Mila) Madison of Great Falls. Billy had ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Billy was an accomplished musician, playing the accordion and piano. His accordion playing brought him many accolades, including playing on the Horace Heit Show and the Major Boes show. For many years Billy played as a guest for the Municipal Band at Gibson Park and for numerous public and private events.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Laverne Seilstad and Marilyn Tedford.
Memorials may be sent to Faith Lutheran Church, Peace Hospice, or the Great Falls Municipal Band at P.O. Box 1894, Great Falls, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
