James Clarence Iverson

July 15, 1931 ~ March 16, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

James C. Iverson, 85, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Goldstone Assisted Living Center. A Memorial will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home.

James was born July 15, 1931 in Great Falls to Martin and Maude Iverson. He was the second youngest of a large family of 8 sons and 1 daughter.  In his youth, he worked as a ranch hand and hauled cattle across Montana as well as worked at the Aryshire Dairy. In 1950, he married Delores Barklay and they welcomed Verna Lee in 1952. They later divorced.

In the early ‘60s he bought a logging truck and moved to White Sulfur Springs where he met the love of his life, Darlene Harmon. They married on February 15, 1964 and moved to the Anderson Ranch in Ulm where they began their ranching adventure.  They welcomed Connie in 1966. Shortly after, they moved to the Anderson Ranch south of Cascade where Ronald was born in 1968.  They lived there for over 32 years. Some of the Iverson’s best memories were ‘over the hump’ on Sheep Creek and moonlight horse rides into the cabin on Saw Mill Creek.

He served on the board of the Foothills Livestock Association for several years.  They left the Cascade area in 1998 and relocated to the ranch south of Great Falls known as Aunt Dora’s.

Jim loved camping, horseback riding, cattle, and surprisingly, golf.  Every October we had a roundup to move the cows from the hills to the lower ranch.  This became a reunion of family and friends who came to help.  It was one of the highlights of the year.  Jim’s brother Ken introduced him to golf and it became something he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of 53 years; his daughters, Verna (Gary) Reinbold of Eagle, ID, Connie (Clark) Wombold of Cascade, MT; son, Ronald (Audra) of Great Falls, MT; 7 grandchildren, Hauss and Josh Reinbold, Nicole Howendobler, Cole Wombold and Dustin, James and Trevor Iverson and 3 great grandchildren, Tegan, Aria and Jackson.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Maude; his sister and his 7 brothers.

Jim will remain in our hearts forever.  He is greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
