Derrick Charles Franklin

February 13, 1984 ~ October 31, 2014 (age 30) 30 Years Old

Derrick Charles Franklin was the first of four children born to Derrick and Barbara Taylor on February 13, 1984 in Galveston, Texas. He attended public school in Hitchcock and Texas City, Texas and later received his G.E.D. from College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas.

He died in a motor vehicle accident on October 31, 2014 near Vaughn, Montana. A Memorial Service is being held locally on Thursday, November 6 at 1:00pm at Fort Shaw Bible Church. Services in Texas are scheduled for Saturday, November 8 at 11:00am at The Fellowship Church in Texas City.

Derrick acknowledged his faith in God at an early age and joined Neighborhood Missionary Baptist Church in LaMarque, Texas under the pastorate of his grandfather Reverend Joseph E. Franklin; later he moved his membership to The Fellowship Church in Texas City, Texas under the pastorate of Kevin Herrin.

On July 4, 2004, he met the love of his life Minton Marie Flannigan and they were married on December 24, 2012, in this union, they were blessed with three beautiful children; Gaven Drake, Lucian Connor, and Zena Trinity.

On March 1, 2014 in search of a better life for themselves and their three lovely children, together they decided to make their home in Fort Shaw, Montana. Then later uniting to the Fort Shaw Bible Church under the pastorate of Reverend Kirby Jones.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Minton Marie Franklin

He leaves to celebrate his victory a loving Mother and Father, Derrick Taylor and Barbara Taylor of Texas City; sons, Gaven Drake and Lucian Connor of Fort Shaw, Montana; daughter, Zena Trinity of Fort Shaw, Montana; sisters, Ebony Larise Taylor of Texas City, Daphne Shanez Conyer (Alton) of Dallas, Texas, Danielle Marie Taylor of Houston, Texas, Jasmine Lockett of La Marque, Texas; and brother, Jeremiah Taylor of La Marque, Texas; as well as his Great-Grandmother, Mable Brooks of Houston, Texas; his Grandparents, Reverend and Mrs. Joseph E. Franklin of Hitchcock, Texas and Mrs. Ada Ross of West Texas City, Texas; In-Laws, Dan and Vicki Flannigan of Fort Shaw, Montana, and a host of loving and devoted Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces, Friends, and Church Family.
