Doris Elaine Ethridge, 88, passed away May 16, 2015 in her home surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home on Saturday, May 23rd at 1:00 pm followed by a graveside service at Hillside Cemetery in Cascade.

Doris was born December 26, 1926 in Spokane, Washington to Alphonse and Irene Poirier. She was raised in Dutton and Great Falls, MT, where she met and married James Ethridge in 1945. They lived in Texas before moving back to Montana to raise their family. Jim and Doris were married for 67 years and had six children. At an early age Doris worked at her family candy store in Great Falls and at Woolworths, and then in Texas worked at the local newspaper along with her husband Jim. After moving back to Great Falls they started their own newspaper, “The Bowling News.” In 1960 the family moved to Cascade.

Doris enjoyed her life in Cascade crocheting and knitting, sewing, crafts, baking, reading, family gatherings, and afternoon tea with her good friend Shirley. Most of all she loved being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a loving, kindhearted and generous soul with a great sense of humor who will be missed by her family and many others who held a special place in her heart. Her personal faith in God guided her throughout her life and she truly enjoyed participating in church activities and attending bible studies. She lived a life of laughter, adventure, and grace and was such a blessing to us all.

Doris is survived by her two daughters; Melissa Kerr (Donald) and Mona Rosin (Marty); two sons, Joel Ethridge and Brent Ethridge (Jennifer); daughter in law, Betsy Ethridge; 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Those who have preceded Doris in death include her husband Jim (2012); sons, Randy (1965) and Neal (2014); her parents, sisters and brothers, and her loyal dog Ed.

Suggested memorials include the Cascade Baptist Church, Cascade Senior Citizen Center, or the Cascade Library.
