Patricia, your daddy was one of my daddy's best buddies. They met in the Air Force during WWII and were in the same group of guys. They formed lifetime friendships, even though daddy lived in southeast Arkansas. They corresponded for all those years after the war. I can't remember the year, but my sister was living in Minnesota and mother and daddy drove to Great Falls before they drove back home to Arkansas. They visited with your daddy for several days and had a wonderful time. Daddy & your daddy had the best reunion! I've even talked to your daddy on the phone. He was a lot of fun to talk to. Daddy developed Alzheimer's and died in 2007. We were able to keep him at home the whole time and he died at peace. My mother died at age 92 in late October of 2013. She was blessed to have been going strong, no obvious health problems, but died suddenly. I happened to be with her at the time and I am so glad I was there. Anyway, I am so sorry for your loss and this very late message. I just found a Christmas card from your daddy, while going through a massive amount of things mother never threw away. I typed in his name and address and his picture came up....I knew it was a picture from a paper with an obituary, so I traced it here and now I'm letting you know that your daddy was a very special buddy to my daddy. Bonds made during a war can never be broken. I hope you are well and I wish blessings on you and your children and grandchildren.
Sincerely,
Debbie Atkins Carpenter.
My daddy was William Clark Atkins, but was called Buddy his whole life, but the guys in the war called him "Fuzz"
