Evelyn Dolores “Pat” Johnston, 87, of Fort Benton, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2015 at the Beehive Memory Care Facility in Great Falls. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, September 26th at 2:00 pm at the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Benton.

Born on August 13, 1928 in Fort Benton to William and Sadie Tope. Pat spent her childhood in the area, graduating from Fort Benton High School in 1946. She married Vern H. Johnston in 1948 in Great Falls and they were together until his untimely death in 2001. This loving union produced four wonderful children; daughters Judy and Cindy; sons, James and Kirby.

Pat worked at Deaconess Hospital providing childcare, when she wasn’t working as a farmhouse cook. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved bowling, pinochle club, league darts, and even served as a Rural County School Clerk. She was a wonderful cook who loved gardening, flowers, fishing, camping, and boating. She enjoyed time spent socializing with her friends, and those special moments with her family.

Pat is survived by her daughters, Judy Weimer and Cindy Johnston; sons, James Johnston and Kirby Johnston; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vern Johnston; parents, Sadie Longmuir and William Pete Tope; brother, Bill Tope; sister, Amie Grande; nephews, Eric Johnston, Thor Johnston, Tom Tope; and great niece, Tiffany Humble.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the Montana Alzheimer Association.
