November 19, 1938 ~ April 22, 2015 (age 76) 76 Years Old

M. Boland Shanley, a retired Funeral Director of Great Falls, passed away of natural causes on April 22, 2015 at the age of 76. A Funeral Service and entombment will be held on Tuesday, April 28th at 1:00pm at Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be open to family and friends on Monday, April 27th from 6pm-8pm at Croxford Funeral Home.

“Bo”, as he was known by most, was born November 19, 1938 in Great Falls to Virginia Clare and Maurice Boland Shanley, Sr. After graduating from the College of Great Falls, Bo attended and graduated from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. While receiving his education, Bo enlisted in the Montana Air National Guard and honorably served his county from 1956-1962. He worked in the funeral profession until 1984 when his poor health forced him into retirement. Bo then moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, and returned to Great Falls in 1989.

Bo’s dedication and service to his community has left behind an iconic standard for all funeral professionals. His co-workers and friends at Croxford Funeral Home hold him in high regard and will miss his sprite demeanor and endless knowledge for everything both funeral and non-funeral related. He had a passion for old cars that ranked him high amongst vintage car enthusiasts and made a tremendous impact with grieving families with the use of his prized 1951 Cadillac Hearse.

Bo is preceded in death by a daughter, Roberta Shanley, a sister, Ann Schiff, and a niece. Those he leaves behind include two sons, Frank & Marcie Shanley and Mike & Kelly Shanley; one brother, J. Noren & Karen Shanley; one brother in law, Mike Schiff; special friend Michelle Scott as well as three grandsons, one granddaughter, five nephews and three nieces.
