Vera Sears

December 19, 1917 ~ October 31, 2014 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Vera Marie Sears, 96, of Great Falls passed peacefully on October 31, 2014 at Beehive Homes of natural causes. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6th, at 2pm at Croxford Funeral Home in the Rose Room Chapel. Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.

Vera was born in Ulm, Montana in 1917. Vera attended Great Falls Schools and graduated from Great Falls High in 1936. In 1939 Vera Tapp Married John Sears, in the following years they had two loving daughters. Vera and John were happily married until Johns passing in 1994.

Vera drove a taxi in Great Falls during WWII until she moved to Oregon while John served in the Coast Guard. They returned to Great Falls in 1945 and bought their first home. Vera returned to the work force in 1950 as a bookkeeper until 1956 when Vera and John bought a Motel with Gift Shop & Service Station in East Glacier, Montana. They operated the motel together until they retired in 1979.

Vera was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and she was an active member of The First Baptist Church for many years. Vera was a proud Brownies and Girl Scout leader during the years her daughters were growing up and attended. She also enjoyed dancing, doing various crafts, she was an excellent seamstress, and she loved to play the organ & piano.

Vera is survived by her daughters Joni (Marion) Woldstad of East Glacier, Bonnie Sears of Great Falls, her two grandchildren; Trent (Sandy) Woldstad of Harlowton, Kim (Doug) Woldstad of Fairfield, her 2 great grandchildren; Garrett and Colter Woldstad both of Harlowton.

Vera is preceded in death by her husband John Sears, her sisters; Thelma Sundgren, Opal Powell and Evelyn Sears.
