William "Bill" Young

May 24, 1922 ~ January 26, 2015 (age 92) 92 Years Old

William “Bill” Young, 92, of Great Falls, passed peacefully on January 26, 2015 at a local care facility of natural causes. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Croxford Funeral Home in the Rose Room Chapel at 2:00pm with interment to follow at Hill Crest Mausoleum.

William was born May 24, 1922 in Terry, Montana; raised in Power, Montana where he attended school until graduation from Power High School and Life’s School of hard knocks. Shortly after high school he joined the Navy where he served on the USS Enterprise During World War ll. Upon his return from the military Bill became a farm laborer in Oregon. In 1952 he married the love of his life, Betty Jean Oman. They were blessed with two loving children. Later they moved back to Montana to begin farming in the Fairfield Bench area and continued to farm there until his retirement.

He was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Fairfield Senior Citizens Center, where he enjoyed various activities and the comradery of his fellow members. Bill not only loved to farm as a way of life but also as a hobby. He truly enjoyed spending time in his vegetable garden growing all the favorites, which he would harvest and share with his many friends. Bill also enjoy playing cards and a good game of cribbage.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Debra Jean Young of Vancouver, WA; son, Michael William Young of Spokane Valley, WA; sister, Joyce Darlene Krekleburg of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Robert Ellsworth Young of Power, MT; along with seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Young in 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents Harry & Viola Young; sister, Harriett Beerman; two brothers, Dickie and Kieth young.

The family requests memorial donations to go to Power Senior Center or to Power Legion Hall.

The family would like to thank the Power Nursing Center and the Beehive Homes for their wonderful staff and care of Bill.
