Welcome to the memorial page for

Merlin David Dittus

December 31, 1969 ~ February 2, 2016 (age 46) 46 Years Old

Merlin David Dittus, 55, of Great Falls, passed away unexpectedly February 2, 2016 at Peace Hospice, due to complications resulting from a fall.  Cremation has taken place under the care of Croxford Funeral Home.  A Graveside service is being planned for next summer.

Born May 25, 1960 in Great Falls, MT to Reuben David and Loretta  Arp Dittus, Merlin graduated from Great Falls High School and went on to graduate from Eastern College of Billings.  He taught school at the Crow Agency for 29 years.  A student said Merlin turned his life around and nominated him to be in his National History book, which his name is in.  He loved to travel whenever he wasn’t teaching.  During the summer he would teach the migrant worker’s children when their parents came to work the beet fields.  He especially loved his students at Crow Agency.

Merlin enjoyed bowling, softball, bingo and watching football.  He liked helping coach, too.

Merlin is survived by his mother, Loretta Dittus; sisters, Johna Rypczynski, of Carter, Sheila (Jim) Egged and Christi Dittus of Great Falls.

He was preceded in death by his father, Reuben.
